In this series, we find Fuu, a young waitress, who is abused by some samurais. Mugen and Jin come to save her, and they end up fighting with each other. In the course of their battle, the son of the magistrate, Shibui Tomonoshina, dies. Now that Jin and Mugen are to be punished and executed, Fuu helps them flee and in ask for a favor in return. She asked them to accompany her in her quest of “the samurai who smells of sunflowers.”

This series is inspired by a manga series written by Sui Ishida.  In this story, we find Ken Kaneki, a young man who came to discover that Rize Kamishiro, the woman whom he fell in love with, revealed herself as a “ghoul” on their first date. This is the story of 16-year old Kenichi Shirahama, who has been a victim of bullying. His life took a turn when he became friends with Miu Fūrinji. He followed her to Ryōzanpaku, a place from where he gained martial arts training and finally emerged as victorious. Ryōzanpaku was led by Hayato Fūrinji, Miu’s grandfather.

This series is written by Hiroshi Watanabe and directed by Takahiro Omori. This series emphasizes a form of supernatural existence with the help of which people can take revenge from other people by sending them to hell. The Hell girl along with her other associates, perform rituals and can abandon the antagonist to Hell.

Arata: The Legend is a Japanese manga series which has been written by Yuu Watase. The dubbed anime series was directed by Kenji Yasuda and Woo Hyun Park. In this series, we are introduced to Arata from Amawakuni. When he was born, his grandmother had said that he was a female infant. It is a matriarchal society; he had to succeed the Hime princess. As he was dressed as a woman and waiting for a replacement to be found, he saw the betrayal that the princess’ guards had attempted to perform by attempting to kill her. This anime series is directed by Kenji Kodama. Many years ago, a lord was believed to be present who had  a mysterious ability to draw supernatural creatures to him. Tokimori Hazama who could exterminate demons, could not help for the power of the lord lingered around even after his death. So, Tokimori decided to establish the Hazama clan to inherit and continue his methods and thus protect the land, Karasumori. There are two kekkaishi-Tokine Yukimura and Yoshimori Sumimura, two members of the Hazama clan who can practice kekkai, a magic that can destroy ayakashi. Things take a turn when it is revealed that Chūshinmaru, who is the illegitimate son of Tokimori Hazama and the heiress of the Karasumori clan which leads to a lot more complications. However, in the end, Yoshimori’s mother seals within herself the domain, and in this way, she sacrifices herself to seal Chūshinmaru.

  1. Nabari no Ou

This 26 episode long series is directed by Kunihisa Sugishima. The boy,  Rokujou Miharu harbors a hidden technique, a power of creation, within himself. The one who possesses this power is believed to rule the ninja world.  Kouichi, the classmate of Rokujou, started a ninja club. He along with his ninja teacher tried to convince Rokujou and persuade him so that he joins the club.  He refused them in the beginning, but then, some ninjas attacked him to get his exceptional power of creation. Petrified, he agreed to join Kouichi’s club. If he wanted to survive, he had to become the ruler of Nabari.


  1. Paranoia Agent

Another Japanese anime television series is Paranoia Agent. It has been created by Satoshi Kon. This series deals with a social phenomenon that took place in Musashino, Tokyo which was caused Lil’ Slugger. The plot throws light on every aspect that had in some way or the other being affected by the incident as per the information derived from the victims of Lil’ Slugger or the detectives who dealt with his case.

  1. Mushishi

This manga series was made into a television series by Artland. It was viewed on Fuji Television from October 2005 to June 2006. In this story we see Mushi. They exhibit certain supernatural powers. Mushi is believed to be a primitive form of life which is beyond the comprehension of ordinary human beings.  However, some people are aware of the existence of Mushi and can interact with them.   Ginko, the protagonist, can interact with the Mushis. He travels from place to place, looking for Mushis and solving others’ problems. Travis Willingham has voiced the character of Ginko the English dub.

  1. Kurozuka

This manga series has been adapted from a Japanese novel written by Baku Yumemakura. Kuro was a young lord who was trying to escape his assassins, accompanied by Benkei, his servant.  They seek shelter in a cottage in the mountains which was owned by a young lady, Korumitsu.  It looks for shelter in a remote mansion in the Japanese mountains; he finds that the only person living there is a young lady. The lady takes care of Kuro and treats him well and both fall in love eventually.  Once he is in better condition, a group of assassins again invade them to kill the lady who is a vampire and knows the secret to externalization.  Kuro puts up a brave fight against them and kills them, but wounds himself severely. Kuromitsu now offers him to eternalize their bond.
